The MIT Enterprise Forum-Phoenix
is the Phoenix AZ chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum, a global not-for-profit
organization whose goal is to foster entrepreneurship, especially in technology
sectors. It is founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and
sponsored by major universities and private enterprises around the world. Each
local chapter produces events to inform the public, build a community of
supporters, facilitate business networking, and educate and assist early stage
entrepreneurs.

is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of BioAccel. Ms. Guerra’s
executive positions at the National Institutes of Health were Deputy
Director of Management and Executive Officer at the National Cancer
Institute; Executive Officer of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood
Institute; and Chief of the Technology Transfer and Intramural
Management Branch at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
Diseases.Ron King,
Ph.D., MBA, is the Chief Science and Business Officer and a co-founder
of BioAccel. Dr. King is expert in integrating science and business by
creating innovative programs to transform new technologies into products
and business opportunities. Dr. King helped manage the development of
several technology programs associated with the Human Genome Project. John Carpten,
PhD, is Translational Genomics Research
Institute’s (Tgen) director of
Integrated Cancer Genomics. He discovered mutations in the genes responsible
for prostate cancer, congenital joint diseases and hyperparathyroidism
jaw-tumor syndrome. He has begun to apply Next Generation Sequencing
technologies to profiling tumors. Pat Elliott is an e-Patient Advocate whose blood cancer is treated with targeted gene therapy. Her career included entrepreneurship and executive roles at HP, Intel and Motorola Healthcare. Today, she works with the health media companies PatientPower and EmpowHER, and supports cancer patients through blogging, hosting programs on patient portals, building global online patient communities and more. |
